Pinterest #5

Good guesses on which movie I own! Valerie (who probably knows everything we have) got it right with Muppet's Christmas Carol.

One thing I haven't talked a lot about lately is my workout routine. I might not've said anything since last Thanksgiving when I ran a 5K with some family members. My mom has kept up on running on and off since then. I have kept up more off than on. :-\ But I did turn my workout more to strength training so that was part of it.

Recently I joined a gym and have really been loving it. I got a few free personal training sessions which I really loved. Mostly I have taken group fitness classes. Now it's time for me to develop a better workout plan instead of just doing something each day. One thing that I'm going to include is running again. My family is considering running a 5 miler on Thanksgiving this year. It's a little daunting to be facing that in two months but I think it's very doable. So look for more information on how that's going!

Where is this going on a Pinterest day? I have a board that I keep pictures that inspire and encourage me in the world of fitness. This is important for anyone but the reason it is really important to me is because I can't track progress by a number on a scale. It's easy to think I'm not getting anywhere but if I look at other markers, I feel motivated to keep it up.

I don't know if I'll ever do what it takes to lower my body fat percentage enough to show abs like that, but wouldn't it be cool?

I definitely notice this quote as being true. I never feel physically blah on a day that I go. Even when I'm sore, I feel empowered and capable of doing great things.

Man is nothing else but what he makes of himself. Another quote I like is "you are what you eat". You are what you do. And if you're fine with what you do, that's great. But if you want to be somewhere and you aren't doing anything to get there, then you will never get there.

I have been in a few core classes now where we've done elevated pushups. Not nearly this elevated but they are hard! I'd like to be able to do them better.

And lastly, I love going to yoga once a week. We don't do anything like this in the class I attend but one day maybe I will increase my level of skill to be able to do something close to this.

I showed off how I organize my jewelry a few weeks ago. I don't think I have enough. I don't even wear jewelry that often. Mostly because I don't usually wear clothes that is jewelry-worthy. Yeah, I'm working on that one too. Slow process.

Here are some necklaces I would love to add to my collection.

I'd love more pearls but I'm not sure about an all-pearl necklace. This one is so simple and lovely.

How can you not love this fun necklace! This would be more of an everyday wear for me.

I know why the caged bird sings.

Can you tell my style tends to be simple and pretty?

Then again... I like the look of chunky necklaces. I just don't know that I can pull them off. My oldest sister does and looks amazing in them. Here's how to make one! What I have in my head is different but that's the beauty of making your own.

I think we all know how gardening went for me this summer. Maybe next year will be better. Maybe we'll get more done outside next year too! This year was a good start with getting rid of lots of stuff around the fence and part of the tree coming down. We have bigger plans for both the front and the back yard and we'll continue to move in that direction! Actually, we're hoping that we can get that huge tree taken down BEFORE the leaves start falling. I really didn't like raking all the leaves from that tree...

There are a few things I like in a garden.

Orderly
Space Efficient
Pretty

I also like unconfined and wild but only when it is someone else's. I don't think I could pull it off. I don't think I could live with it. There needs to be some sort of order to it. It's got to make sense.

One of my items on my 2011 to-do list was to start a compost pile. Yep. Not happening this year. But I want to build this one. It looks easy enough to build. As long as I get everything square. I'm not sure about three compartments though. I think we would only ever need two. At least for a while.

Vertical gardening is a great way to use space efficiently. Nothing like this works with my current house, but still quite lovely.

I love the wide space in the middle with the space to sit at the end. I'd like something that was open more to the outdoors but can still be sheltered from rain. A bigger doorway? Larger windows? I don't know. It's a long ways off.

We want a fenced in backyard. We have a fence but it's not fully enclosed and it is ugly and broken. Isn't this a pretty doorway? Pergolas are a bonus anywhere!

This walk-through trellis is made from PVC pipes! He has cucumbers growing on them but any vine plant would work well. I can see tomatoes working well too!

Even though these pictures don't show it, I do enjoy flowers too! An edible garden will always be top on my list if I am short on time, space, and/or money. I really miss my my mom's roses from growing up and we love fresh cut flowers and would prefer cheaper ones than from the store.

I should take you on a full tour of my house so that when I say the master bathroom is small.... you know what I mean. I definitely do not have a vision of what I would like in a master bathroom in terms of style.

A few things are clear from our time with our current bathroom. I want more counter space. I don't want to leave things out but when I get out something, I don't want to be spending the majority of the time balancing eye shadow on the edge of the counter or catching bobby pins before they go down the drain. I also want a bath and a shower. Separate. We just have a shower. And even that drives me crazy.

Pinterest has some lovely eye candy for me. Let me share just a few with you.

This first bathroom is too ornate for my tastes but I love the arches and the column. And the stone/tile/marble/whatever it is. High ceiling. Pretty light (although I'm very open to pretty chandeliers anywhere in my house). Functional space. Enough space to share the space. Big window. Nice tub.

I'm not sure what is in that little door straight ahead because there is a bathrobe hanging up in there so maybe a tub? I'd like the toilet to be kinda closed off like that. I love the seat in the shower. The wood work on the walls. The floor and how there's so many different shades of gray. The hook right outside the shower. And the faucet. It's hard to see but it looks real pretty.

I don't know if I'd ever be so bold as to ever have an outdoor shower or tub beyond something for a pool or lake. Maybe at my vacation home. This just looks so serene and peaceful. That feeling is something I'd like to inject in a bathroom.
I love this half wall shower. The white helps make the room feel open. It also kind of looks like there is two shower heads in there. Love the floor.
This shower is big enough for shelves! I love that. I really want that. I think I would feel exposed in a shower this big at least for a little while. I'm sure I'd get over it. It's just too fabulous not to! Love the seating as well.

What do you look for in a shower or master bathroom?

Have you notice I'm posting more now? Funny thing... I got myself into a challenge with my friend to see which one of us will fail at posting. We have no parameters which is a bit of a problem for a challenge.

I thought today would be a great day to start showing some Pinterest love. Pinterest is a website where you can set up virtual boards and pin pictures to them. You can follow me here. When I joined, you had to have an invite to join. I don't know if that's still the case, but if you want to join, I can send you an invite.

I'm going to choose just five pictures to show off each time I do one of these posts.

My favorite thing about this first picture is the ledge that goes around the room with all those bottles. I have a love of bottles and I don't have enough. They currently line my kitchen counter but I do need to move them and I can't bear to pack them away. I can definitely visualize a ledge like this in our kitchenette. Then I can collect more bottles!

A few other loves: large windows, the chairs give a big pop of color with that red, the light fixture that totally just goes with this room.

My pantry is tiny. This one is so beautiful. Using all glass jars makes it so uniform and allows all the color to show through. Plus it's easy to see what you might be low on. One downside to this would be that kids would not be allowed to touch until a certain age. I don't have a problem yet, but I can foresee chaos. But so very pretty.
I usually am not a fan of pot racks because they always seem to be low and you feel like you have to duck every time you walk near it. This one hangs higher and in front of the window so it doubles as a window treatment. I don't think it'd ever be very practical for me (talk about hauling out a step stool every time I needed to use or put away a pot!) but I do like it.

I have these pretty glass jars to store my herbs. The storage is a hassle. I love this sliding out, tiered cabinet! It keeps spices organized, out of the sunlight, and within reach.

This picture is of a bathroom, but this idea is for my kitchen. I just adore these wire baskets! I want many! I even have space chosen in my kitchen to hang them for my hand towels and wash cloths. No, they don't match and they aren't pretty, but I don't care! I could even have one for bibs and place mats.

So there you have it. Some of my Pinterest loves! It was hard to choose a starting place so I'll definitely be doing more of these posts in the future. Hope you enjoyed some pictures not taken by me! ;-)
